MALT was formed by the creative efforts of four Los Angeles musicians who felt it was important to present their own style of music, a blending of modern jazz with a hint of blues. The group's sound encompasses 20 years of diverse musical experience and performances throughout the United States and Europe.

The members of MALT have performed and recorded with such artists as:
Toshiko Akiyoshi, Lew Tabackin, Bobby Shew, Buddy Rich, Robert Cray, Stevie Wonder, Albert Collins, Bill Holman, Bob Florence, Natalie Cole.

MALT has performed at the Playboy Jazz Festival Concert Series in Los Angeles; Verizon Music Festival, Los Angeles, 2001; Beverly Hills Summer Concert Series, 2002; Beverly Hills Affair in the Garden Art Festival, 2002; Santa Monica City College Jazz Concert Series; California State University, Northridge Jazz Concert Series, 2000.

These musicians are also clinicians and adjudicators having been involved in programs and events such as the Reno Jazz Festival; Northern Arizona University Jazz Festival; University of Central Washington and education jazz clinics for unified school districts.
